TGIF

Well, it has been a while since I posted anything on here, and I must say since I've really gotten much of anything done for any of my current projects....... I'm hoping though, to make some real progress this weekend.... especially on the Backyard Art Studio and Flutterby Bakery. My Hubster is going to be out of town Saturday evening through probably Sunday evening, but I'm staying home because I have a bunch of stuff around the house that needs to get done, so I'm hoping to also get some miniature work done.  My two main goals are to get some more painting done on the bricks for the Backyard Art Studio, and maybe start cutting the openings in the roof for the skylight windows, but I think this I might hold off on and have my husband do, or at least help with.... plus I still need 2 more windows and I won't be getting those probably until next week or later, so it's not like I could finish those off and get the structure together or anything lol. The other thing I really want to work on is Flutterby bakery..... I'll be making tiny little bunting banners for one of the walls, and then I'm hoping to get the floors finished off and maybe the table made and decorated for the view of the kitchen through the door in the wall.  If I can get that stuff done then there is really very little left to do until I can finish that project (although I still need to order a few things to help with making all the baked goods for the display cases, so it'll be a little while before I can put it all together)

Soon I'll also be getting more into the conservatory in the terrarium I got with my birthday gift card and....... I kind of got another smaller one on clearance at Hobby Lobby the the other day.... soooo...... now I have 2 conservatories to do in different scales (the original one is 1:12, and the second one is about 1:24, but I actually got fairy garden furniture for it.  I would post photos of it now, but my computer is being a turd face and not wanting to work properly, so I'll have to leave it at that for now, later this weekend I'll post updates on what I've actually managed to get done and hopefully post pictures then. :)

{Attic Roombox} finishing off one of the pieces of broken furniture....

Wow, it's been quite a while since I posted anything.... mainly because I haven't really worked on anything in a while because I haven't really had the time.  I also haven't ordered the stuff I need to move ahead with my two main projects going on right now (the Flutterby Bakery and the Backyard Art Studio) so what I have done has just been a couple little things for the Attic.  I'm really hoping to get back to the Backyard Art Studio soon and at least get the structure itself finished.... but more on that at the end of this post.....

Here's what I did the other night when I had a few minutes for the Attic.....

The table is one of the broken pieces that prompted this whole project, and it's just about the perfect size to sit the dollhouse on, so it was my quick project the other evening.....

Here's a reminder of what it looked like broken (this picture was taken right after I broke it, and you may notice that the legs were actually still a little longer then.... they broke a little more in storage... oops....)

So, from that point to now... I painted a wood colored layer and then a white layer over it and distressed it, and then I made some little books to put under the shorter legs to even it out.

The books are just little pieces of balsa wood with three sides painted white (or gold) for page edges and scrapbook paper glued around the outside as a cover and then a little gold paint for accents.  I only made the three for the table right then, but I'm going to be making more so that there can be some stacked books up in the attic.  I also found a scrapbook paper that is meant to look like brown leather, so I will make a few books out of that too and see how it looks.

I still have to age/verdigris a little more of the copper strip for the outside of the roof, and I'll make sure I take pictures of the steps/process so I can do a little tutorial on that, and also for making the rest of the books.... although I'm sure no one really needs a tutorial for that because it's pretty self explanatory, but sometimes it's nice to see exactly what someone else did before you try it yourself.....

But going back to the Backyard Art Studio and Flutterby Bakery.....  I will probably be picking back up with the Art Studio next, for one because it's been a really long time since I've really worked on it and I don't want to lose too much momentum, but also because I'll have the materials I need for the next step of that sooner than I will for Flutterby Bakery.  I was planning on ordering windows to use for the skylights in the studio and just kept not getting that done, but the other day in Hobby lobby I noticed that they had windows that will work (they aren't exactly the same but they are close enough) and then I don't have to pay shipping or wait for them to get here (and I still have some left on the gift card I got for my birthday so I can use that for them), and I think this week they are 30% off so I will probably go and get them sometime this afternoon/evening.  I think I also need another sheet of the brick siding and then I have to do the paint finishes on them..... that's a good sit and do while I'm watching a movie activity. So the siding and the skylights I'm hoping to do pretty soon and then I think the structure will be ready to be put together.

I'm also dying to finish the Bakery, and while I need to order a few things to make more cakes/cupcakes/baked goods for the main room and either make or order the rest of the furniture (I plan to make the tables... I already made a test one, I just have to decide whether to try to make or just order chairs), I do need to make a table and decorate the "kitchen" that will be visible through the doorway and then I can probably go ahead and glue the floor down to the case and glue the wall in place and such.

I'd really like to have the Bakery and at least most of the Backyard Art Studio finished by some time in August (especially since I have a couple - hopefully - quick fall projects I want to do), but summer does tend to be pretty busy for me so IDK how much free time I'll have to work on stuff, lol. I guess I'll just have to devote my evenings to crafting... because you know {get ready for some sarcasm} that'll be such a hardship for me lol ;) ....
