{Flutterby Bakery} Cupcakes!

I got the cupcakes mold I ordered in (I also got a mold to make the teeny tiniest french macarons, but I haven't really done anything with that yet) I got the molds (and have gotten stuff before and will be getting more) from Stewartdollhousecreations.com She has so many adorable pre-made items and supplies for making your own and has stuff in 1:12, 1:24 and 1:48 scale, so definitely check out her website!
The molds, sitting on my leg and with my finger in the picture for size reference
So, I started by making a batch of cupcakes with the beige clay I already had and they turned out super cute, so I went to the store and got some pink clay (well actually because I went to Walmart and they don't have a huge selection of color choices, I ended up getting a dark raspberry/fuschia color and white and mixed them to a good pink myself) and made some "strawberry" cupcakes too.  Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of the cupcakes straight out of the oven, but oh well lol.

I wanted them to look as real as possible when you look closely at them so before doing anything else I stuck them top side down to some doublesided tape (okay actually scrapbook adhesives lol) and used some very watered down white paint to carefully paint the ridges (and bottom, even though that was completely unnecessary since you cant see the bottom when they're sitting right side up - duh) so that it looks like they have white paper liners on them.  By watering down the paint so much it just barely shows on the cupcakes and the "cakes" color shows through, just like a real white cupcake liner after you have baked the cupcakes
Itty bitty cupcakes, after I painted the "liners"
cropped version of the above picture.... it's not as clear because of being zoomed in, but I thought the cupcakes were a little small to see well in the full pic
I only ended up icing and decorating the "strawberry" ones because I want to wait to do the others until I can order the 1:48 star tip from Stewartdollhousecreations.com to do the icing as rosettes on the "vanilla" ones (I'll probably tint the icing too so that its a pretty color).  The strawberry ones though I just did white frosting on (which I also got from Ruth Stewart)  and added a few tiny no hole beads as sugar pearls for decoration.
I couldn't decide which was the better picture of them so I'm just posting all of them lol

you can see how tiny they are using my hand for scale

I really liked how this one turned out so I had to take a pic featuring it lol ;)
So, then I was dying to see them actually in one of the display cases, so I took one of the baking sheets from the set that I had gotten to put some in the kitchen part and sprayed it matte gray to use as a tray for them and glued them onto it (also now I'm going to have to get several more sets of those at least because its just about the perfect size for trays, so I guess my attic room box will have a box or something full of "old" pots and pans lol)
So cute!
And then I slipped it temporarily into one of the display cases and take a few pictures
again, wasn't sure which was the best and clearest picture so I'm posting all of them lol

I took them in several different lighting situations, since I'm taking the pics with my phone the lighting plays a big part in how well the camera will focus on such tiny stuff.... this one is sitting on our porch railing, in a shadowed area.....

and this one is sitting on the table next to our front door on the porch
And I had to set in into the room (well sort of the room... the back wall is still just kind of propped up...
I'm trying to decide what if anything I want to put in the bottom recesses of the counter, hence the 3 different patterned papers sitting in and against the base..... I'm not even sure I want to put anything there or just leave it white, but we'll see

I'm planning on getting back to working on the Backyard Art Studio soon too, but for right now I don't want to get all the stuff for that back out until probably the beginning of May, because my birthday is this coming Saturday and I'm working on doing stuff to get ready for my party so I don't want to take anything else out to be all over the place/have to be put away.  Plus I don't forsee me really having time to work on miniature stuff this week, since it's suppose to be a pretty busy week, plus working on the birthday projects.  I am probably going to order some more stuff for the bakery this week though and the windows that are going to be skylights in the Backyard Art Studio. So......... I probably won't be posting much (if anything) for the next week or so, but then I'm hoping to get some major progress done on at least this one and the Studio, before summer and beach/lake season hits lol ;)
