{Gallery B} FINISHED!!! : Part 2

As promised here is part two of the pictures of the finished Gallery B.  I guess there's not really a whole lot that needs to be said before I get into the pictures themselves, that I didn't say on yesterday's post (which you can find right here if you missed it), so, on with the show......
Starting to test out layout on the walls in these next few pictures.... and also I realized that I'm not sure all of these teeny tiny paintings where in any of the pictures of the art from yesterday's post, but, as I'm sure your could guess, they are acrylics on canvas,  they are .125" x .25" and .125" x .125", in other words, super, super tiny haha

this picture I went ahead and included here because I think it may give a better look at the modern wave and seagulls piece than any of the others did yesterday, the piece is ink on bristol and the frame is made from the same plastic u-beams that the baseboards are made from

a little bit washed out, but this is looking into the gallery from the front before I attached the store front frame

again from the front before the frame was attached

an one more from the front to see the other side of the gallery

kinda dark (it's looking like I need to get some better pictures of this project lol), but looking in from the back with the frame on the front

and looking from the back at one side....

...and then the other side of the gallery

closer ups of the walls with all the art attached (Which will be pretty much the same as the pictures at the beginning of the post, just with the art permanently installed now lol)

I think this angle shows off the interior a little better though

So as I'm looking at these pictures as I'm posting them I'm realizing that a lot of them have REALLY bad lighting, so I guess sometime in the near future I need to take some better ones, but these will have to do for now lol.  Also I didn't get any yet apparently of the brick on the outside side walls, but I will post pictures of that when I get the stairs for the front door done :).

The next two shops on the street I will be working on will be the toy store and the book store (neither of which have names yet), but since I have the toy store's building and a lot of it's merchandise I'm probably going to mainly focus on that one.  I know there's no way I will be able to get them both done in time for the miniatures show at my work that starts at the beginning of December, but I'm hoping I can MAYBE get at least the toy store done if I really focus on it, but we'll see......  As things stands right now I don't really expect to be doing a lot of work on any of them in the next couple weeks, but maybe if I can get some of the other stuff that HAS to get done on that time frame done I can work on the toy store at least a little, I guess we'll have to wait and see.  And just in case I don't get a chance to post anything else before Thanksgiving.... Happy Thanksgiving! ;)

{Gallery B} Finihsed!!! part 1 (and other updates)

Well, I know its been a while since I posted anything, and I actually had a post about some other smaller projects that will be coming up in the next month or two, but hadn't posted it yet, because I hadn't gotten a chance to take pictures for it yet, and then never got it posted, so I guess I will just go into that stuff a little bit here. Part of the reason I've not had the chance to get pics taken and posts posted about other stuff is that I've been focusing most of my crafting time on getting Gallery B done (which is the main content for this post - because it is now DONE! - well except I still have to figure what I'm doing about the steps for the front, but that will come later), but before I get into that, let me just quickly go over some of the other stuff I've been up/will be getting up to......

So, one of the other reasons I've not gotten much posted here is that for the past several months I've been trying to re-do my craft room.  It started out as just wanting to rearrange and reorganize a bit, but then I found a workbench at Harbor Freight that was perfect, and then since I going to get that more stuff was going to have to be rearranged in the room and then I decided that if I was going to be moving everything around anyway, I should paint, which I've been meaning to do for years, and then since I was redecorating I had to get curtains for the room..... anyway..... I'll post about it with some pictures when its all done, but the point is that it turned into a much larger project than I intended and then ended up with hardly any time to work on it, so now almost two months later I'm just getting around to trying to get all the boxes that have been taking up a ton of room in my kitchen, and trying to get the room back in order. I still have one corner of the room I haven't been able to get to to paint yet, but once I get everything else back in working order then I can pull the stuff from that corner out into the center of the room long enough to paint that  haha.

I've also got some smaller projects that I need to get going on because they are mostly Christmas presents (which also means I cant really talk about them until after the recipients have gotten them), But I'm really excited about a couple of them so I've been trying to work on them a little bit here and there between other stuff.  Pretty soon though they are going to have to take the priority.  In the meantime though as well as trying to get as many of the Whimsy street shops done by the first weekend in December, I'm also doing a mini Parade float for my husband to have in our town's Christmas parade again this year. The theme is "the Magic of Christmas" so I'm planning a float with lots of lights. It's going to be a North Pole Magical Forest.  So I'm thinking a big pole and light up trees and other light up decorations like the type you would see in someone's yard at Christmas time.  But again I'll get more into that in a separate post.

So now on to the main event so to speak, Gallery B.  Because I haven't really posted much about it as I went along (and honestly so much of it got done so quickly, even had it not been during a time with so much else going on I probably wouldn't have ended up getting it posted as I went lol) I'm going to break it up into 2 posts so it's not quite as overwhelming picture wise.....

So for this post I'm going to mainly focus on the artwork itself, and the next post will be the structure and the artwork in place and finished pictures and stuff.  All of the art is my original work, most of it acrylics on "canvas" or bristol board.  I think I may have already at some point talked about how I made the canvases, but in case you missed that or need a refresher, basically its just a white cotton fabric glued to a thin piece of bass wood.  There are a few pieces that are pencil or watercolor or some other medium though so I'll caption each piece with what it is.  The frames on the framed art are either thin strips of balsa or the same model railroad plastic u-beams I used for the baseboards in the gallery (but you'll see that more in the next post) so without further ado here is all the artwork that is on display in Gallery B.

again, I think I already posted these two a while ago but here they are again, both acrylics on canvas and the frame on the one is balsa wood

starting to see what they look like on a wall (kind of a sneak peak for the next post ;) )

and my little statue I made.... it's meant to be bronze, but it's actually made from clay and wire and a little metallic paint

I made the pedestal for it from basswood
So after that load of pictures I'm sure you'll be ready to hear that this is where I'm going to take a break and come back with part 2 of this post tomorrow..... ;)

{Willow: Florist and Garden Shop} : FINISHED!!!! (completely this time)

It's done, done! There was a moment there where I thought I was going to have an issue with finishing it, because I couldn't find the pieces for the "roof" and "handle", but I ended up just getting another of the paper mache boxes I made the structure from, to use the lid from it, although I actually only ended up using the rim for the handle because the lid was just too differently shaped to really work for the top, so I cut that piece  from balsa wood.  I'll probably find the original pieces tomorrow now that I've replaced them lol.

The other thing that took a little figuring out was the ceiling.  I was afraid that, especially with the curved walls, there might not be enough light to see everything well with a solid ceiling, but the store definitely needed a ceiling.  I did seriously think about putting actual LED lights in the shop, but really felt it needed to be an option that didn't need to be switched on and off if it is displayed somewhere where there's not easy access to it.  So after running through a bunch of options in my head, I ended up going with an acrylic ceiling with a white vellum over it.  It gives an opaque look to the ceiling but still lets light filter through.  Also if I want to at any point I could put some LED's under the half roof or around the inside of the top and it would still let the light through.

Sooooooooo, after the ceiling, and roof, and handle going on, and some touch up painting, and such, here are the final results....
